The Office of Student Volunteerism (OSV) is committed to enriching the lives of UT Dallas students through engagement opportunities and utilizing them as resources to address the immediate and long-term needs of our local, global, and campus communities through service, reflection, education, and partnerships.

Community Garden
The UT Dallas Community Garden program provides Comets with the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of natural gardening and community greening.

Recurring events include donation drives and smaller events such as Pet Pals and Adopt-a-Highway!

The office frequently sponsors donation drives to benefit community partners.

- February: Cleaning Supplies, benefiting the Transition Resource Action Center.
- March: Books, benefiting the Plano Public Library.
- April & May: Hygiene & Toiletries, benefiting the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas.

- July: Pantry Staples, benefiting the UTD Comet Cupboard.
- July & August: School Supplies, benefiting Community Partners of Dallas.
- September: Pawsome Toys and Treats, benefiting the Richardson Animal Shelter.
- October: Clothing Drive, benefiting Temoc’s Closet at the UTD Basic Needs Resource Center.
- November: PB&J, benefiting the UTD Comet Cupboard.
- OSV also hosts multiple blood drives each year with Carter BloodCare.

Alternative Spring Break
Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is an immersive week of hands-on service, leadership building and relationship building supplemented with education and reflection. Students have the chance to make an impact on communities around the U.S. and learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing the country.

The Volunteer Expo is an opportunity for students to “window shop” for volunteering opportunities all over Dallas!
VolunTemoc
VolunTemoc is an annual week of service organized by the Office of Student Volunteerism. The event is named after our university mascot, Temoc.

Earth Week is hosted annually by the Office of Sustainability and the Office of Student Volunteerism.

Taking place the week before Thanksgiving, Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week serves as a time to reflect on what we are grateful for and how we can come together to shed light on a pair of issues affecting millions of Americans today.
